“My story is in my heart. One day before my daddy went to heaven, he gave me this little piece of coal. He said to think of it as a diamond. He called it his pearl of great price. I didn’t know what that meant. I said, “Its just a dumb ol’ piece of coal.” He said it was a treasure. Just like our town is a treasure for all who live here. All treasures worth digging for always come at a price. We all know that’s true now; don’t we?” ~Rachel, Coal Valley schoolgirl
“You have every right to feel afraid…We mustn’t lose hope. I believe there is a reason for every fear we face, and every hardship we suffer; its to make us all stronger people.” ~Ms. Thatcher
Rachel’s story gripped my heart as I watched this new series and became the inspiration for the pattern of this first clue to our mystery. After watching their brave mothers fight to save their homes, hearing the endearment this young girl had for her hardworking little town; I knew that Coal Valley was a place I wanted to be.
Join Jules and me, as we journey with Elizabeth Thatcher, Constable Jack Thornton (swoon), Abigail, and all the townspeople of Coal Valley, through this mystery knit-a-long. If you feel afraid….. don’t lose hope! We will guide you along the way, and cheer you on as you embark on this new, mysterious adventure!
