Notice! One of our knitters has had the unfortunate event of some of the red bleeding into the white, so we are including some instructions to help prevent this from happening to you.
Before you block:
Before you wet your entire shawl, soak the bottom red in vinegar first. This should help set the color. If you have access to a product called a color grabber or some such, try one of those. When you squeeze the water out of your shawl, use a towel to keep the red and white separated. Or mist the shawl before you begin blocking and avoid the soak all together.
If you have already soaked and discovered some bleeding:
Try this solution to work the stain out, 3/4c. peroxide, 3 teaspoons of baking soda, a squirt of dawn or other soap. With a clean rag or sponge, dab the solution into the stained area, let sit, dab some more, rinse and repeat if necessary. Do so gently so as to not overly fuzz the yarn, there isn’t much fiber in this skinny yarn.
There should be plenty of surprises in this episode as it will be setting us up for season 4! Hope Valley and all its residents have experienced lots of ups and downs this season and hopefully we will be left with Hope for their continuing adventure. Have fun with this last clue and your blocking adventures to come!! Thank you all for your interest and participation in this MKAL. Stay in touch as we plan to have another to go with Season 4!
Here are the additional instructions for the picot bind off.
